Daniel Schorno
Composer, born in Zurich/Switzerland.

He studied composition in London with Melanie Daiken and electronic and computer music in The Hague/Netherlands, with Joel Ryan and Clarence Barlow.

Invited by Michel Waisvisz he lead STEIM – the renown Dutch STudio for Electro-Instrumental Music, and home of ‘New Instruments’ – as Artistic Director (twice) and served as the studio’s Creative Director, thereby estabishing its educational programme, for over a decade and a half until 2012.

Under the alias ‘zitegeist’  Daniel travels the globe performing on vintage analoge and new digital eponymous instruments. His musical noosphere is characterized by razor edge sounds and real-time digital cut & cue synthesis and one-of-a-kind preternatural crackle scorpion light sculptures.

Collaborators have included luminaries like Steina Vasulka Stelarc Haraldur Karlsson dj sniff/takuro mizuta lippit jan st werner/mouse on mars netochka nezvanova Monica Frycova and many more, as well as numerous Dutch New Music Ensembles and organisations like the FNM/Stuttgart and the Theremin Institute/Moscow.

His acclaimed workshops have taken him all over Europe and the Americas and as far afield as Johannesburg’s Soweto, Iceland, Shanghai and the street artists & kids of Guatemala City.

He is co-founder of EIG and runs the Soundbunker label.
